AFTER THE RUT

What a marvel to behold! The rutting season of the elk, with the slashing antlers and haunting bugling. When the dust settles the victor gets the herd, but he must protect them during the entire season lest they wander off to a less desirable mate. In the end, the bull is so tired that all he wants to do is sleep. And the magpie takes advantage of this and enjoys a pleasant roost.
